DIRECTIONS:
1. You want to become a CPCS – Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor
2. Fill out the CPCS paper application.
3. Email the completed paper application BEFORE  and SENT NOW (by May 6, 2018) to [email protected] if you want to be certified at the end of the training program at the convention on Saturday May 12, 2018. (The application has detailed directions)
4. Attend all the CPCS workshops at the convention
5. The last CPCS workshop ends on Saturday May 12, 2018 at noon.
6. If you completed the application, personal references, and it has been received by the CPCS committee timely, bring all your CE certificates from each CPCS workshop at the convention to the registration desk on Saturday May 12, 2018. 
7. Applications will not be processed on any other day at the convention.  If you have completed the entire required process, you may apply to certified at the convention.
8. If you have completed the entire required process, you may apply to be certified at the end of the convention. Or you can mail in your application at a later date, the CPCS Committee will review the application.
9. The time frame for mailed in applications is several weeks.
10. YOU MUST pay the CPCS CONVENTION PROCESSING Certification FEE before the convention no later than May 6th, 2018.
11. If you checked the box on the “register for each workshop” for the CPCS training you will be invoiced the On Site certification fee.

Current CLinical Members $49.00

All others and Non-member $69.00 plus the application fee of $149.00 ($218.00 total)

FAQs

 When will I get invoiced?

 Invoices will go out at the end of April 15. (we estimate no later than April 20, 2018)

 What if I don’t want to get certified at the end of the training program?

 Just email in your application when you are ready.

 Can I take some workshops at the convention and some by other providers?

 Yes, BUT you must complete all four parts of the 24-hour training program: (but you will not be processed at the convention)

Disclaimer:  LPCA will work with the CPCS application to process paperwork for the certification but there may be items that impede that process beyond the control of LPCA. Therefore, LPCA will be held harmless for items/issues beyond the control of LPCA.

 State Requirements:

Be licensed in Georgia as LPC

(O.C.G.A. 43-10A and Board Rules 135-5-.02)

Must be GA LPC for at least:

3 (Three) years with a Master’s degree,

2 (Two) years with an EdS, or

1 (One) year with a Doctoral degree

 

If licensed as a Supervisor in the state you are transferring from: 

Must be LPC or LMHC or LPCC, etc:

Proof of Supervision Training (3 options):

Option A: * Preferred Method

 

 

*24 LPCA or NBCC approved CE workshops in clinical supervision training.  See list below.

MUST provide proof of each of the required segments: 

Foundation, Models, Legal/Ethics, and Specialty

 

Up to 1/3 of the hours can be distance learning

 

Addiction Supervision or AAMFT training not accepted

 

Option B:

 

Graduate level coursework in supervision from accredited counselor preparation program/ or PhD program within the five(5) years.

 

Option C:

 

Clinical Supervisor Credential (NBCC/CCE ACS or state certified-currently)

 

Addiction certification not accepted. 

AAMFT supervisor not excepted.

 

 

 

Total hours for initial approval as a CPCS:  24 hours (see below required category)

Suggested Topics:  Developmental differences such as theoretical orientation, cultural differences, difficulties with supervisees, discipline policies and due process, transference and countertransference.  Genograms, Case Scenarios, Telemental Health Supervision.

Non-Clinical Member of LPCA:    $ 149.00

LPCA active Clinical Member:       $ -0- included with clinical membership

 

CPCS Yearly Maintenance  Fee

Non-Clinical Member of LPCA:    $ 75.00 per year

LPCA active Clinical Member:       $ -0- included with clinical membership

 

CPCS Re-Certification

Non-Clinical Member of LPCA:    $ 75.00 per year

LPCA active Clinical Member:       $ -0- included with clinical membership

 

Certification is valid for 2 years and must be renewed by September 30, on even years.

This is tied to the License Renewal schedule.

 

12 CEs in the area of Supervision (3 of the 12 in Ethics of Supervision) must be submitted for the renewal. The supervision CEs can be applied toward the LPC renewal.
