Supervision of new clinicians is one of the most important jobs we have. What do they need to get out of this experience? If we can assist them in discovering their confidence and competency in the field, we have accomplished our primary goal. Core Belief Therapy helps us understand where our strengths and growth areas lie as trainers. We can then empower the associate counselor to help themselves find the same. Join me in revealing our inner truths and taking supervision to the next level.

Presenter: Anna Moriarty MPS, LPC, LMHC, CPCS has had over 25 years experience as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Professional Counselor in both Florida and Georgia. As a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor, she enjoys educating and supervising interns and master’s level clinicians. Anna has worked with diverse demographics, in many different settings, and has used a variety of treatment modalities. She began her work in community mental health, and then expanded into intensive outpatient services. Much of her current strategies were developed during her time at a school day treatment center and during inpatient services. The wrap around approach heavily inspired her current strategy. In 2008, Anna Moriarty began Integrated Therapeutic Solutions with the vision of integrating mental health with overall wellness. In 2013, she was invited to extensively train and serve as a DSM-5 Field Trials Collaborating Investigator to assist in the refinement of the NEW DSM-5 diagnostic manual. In 2020, she was welcomed back for the current DSM-5 refinements. I.T.S. incorporated Cumming Wellness Center in January 2018 offering yoga, massage, chiropractic, and nutrition services. Since COVID, those services have ended. C.W.C. now offers mindfulness, empowerment training and other wellness psycho-education along with mental health counseling. In 2021, Anna developed and trademarked Core Belief Therapy as the treatment strategy for I.T.S. This counseling practice is inspired by Brene Brown’s work on “owning your story” and being fully “authentic”. Everyone needs safety, security, love and belonging to heal their fractured parts, so they are made whole again. She is providing FREE continue education for mental health providers on this treatment strategy. Her current ambition is to finalize Wellness Resort Spa. This was the ultimate goal and dream that was developed in 2008 with Integrated Therapeutic Solutions. This is an all-inclusive therapeutic vacation for couples and families.

The Law and Board Rules in Clinical Counseling Supervision  - 3.0 Supervision - Ethics Presenter: Carolyn Ramp, EdS, LPC, CPCS, CGRS

This session will review the laws and rules that govern becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia.  We will review currents methods of documentation recommended for supervisors and supervisees.  Ethical codes for supervision and documentation will be examined.

Learning Objectives:

1. To become aware of and understand the law and board rules governing the licensure that leads to becoming a licensed professional counselor.
2. To gain competence with the Law and rules provided by the state and the composite board regarding supervision requirements and documentation.
3. To understand and practice by the ethical responsibilities as well as follow required documentation in clinical supervision.

Presenter: Carolyn Ramp, EdS, LPC, CPCS, CGRS has over 40 years of experience working with families and individuals.  She has successfully owned two private practices in Augusta, GA with teams of ten-fifteen therapists.  She is trained by ACA in ethics and offers several workshops.  Carolyn has an Ed.S. in Counseling from Georgia Southern and is an Approved Clinical Supervisor and a CPCS.  Her experience is varied and includes schools, agencies and private practice.  She is trained in Love and Logic Parenting Program and is a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist.

Supervising Counselors who Treat Foster Children 3.0 Supervision - Specialized

Supervisors who work with counselors in training that encounter foster care clients and families face unique challenges with their suprvisiees. Using the Framework of the Integrative Developmental Model of Supervision, participants will engage in group discussion, case scenarios, and lecture to assist participants in listing the unique challenges faced by supervisees who treat foster care clients, analyze case scenarios presented by their supervisees, and also create a plan to address supervisees who work with foster children and their families in order to build competent counselors who work in the foster care system.

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will list the unique challenges faced by supervisees who treat children and families involved in the foster care system
2. Participants will analyze case scenarios that supervisees face when working with foster care clients.
3. Participants will be able to create a plan to address the needs of supervisees who work with foster care clients.

Presenter: Jill Osborne, EDS, LPC, RPT-S, CPCS is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor. She is currently in private practice where she provides counseling for child, adolescents and adult clients, training in play therapy issues, and supervises counselors towards licensure and the Registered Play Therapist Credential. Her specialties include play therapy, trauma, parenting issues, adoption, anxiety, mood disorders, grief, and life change issues.

Addressing Race, Ethnicity and Culture in Clinical Supervision 3.0 Supervision - Specialty

America’s current landscape is a highly charged socio-political terrain, where racial, ethnic, political, religious and cultural minority groups may present in supervision with high levels of stress. Participants will explore the importance of addressing social justice issues in supervision. Participants’ will be introduced to the major models of social justice supervision and learn to apply them to their clinical supervision practice.

Learning Objectives:

1. Help supervisees recognize and process the influence of race-related and culturally-related experiences on the therapeutic process
2. Strengthen their professional skills and ethical practices when exploring diversity-related issues in counseling or in supervision
3. Help supervisees recognize how a legacy of historical, intergenerational, or race-based trauma can affect the contemporary mental health of minority group members

  Presenter: LaVerne Hanes Collins, PhD, NCC, ACS, BC-TMH, LPC, LCMHC For 25 years, Dr. Collins has been a counselor, trainer, consultant, author, textbook contributor, and speaker. Nationally and internationally, she is recognized as an advocate for underserved populations. Her career history includes serving as program director for the NBCC Foundation and interim vice president for NBCC’s Foundation and Professional Services Division, in addition to roles as Counselor, Clinical Supervisor; Grants Manager; Clinical Training Coordinator, and Executive Director. Since 2011, she has owned an Atlanta-based private practice and training agency: New Seasons Counseling, Training, and Consulting. She also serves as the clinical director at Restoration Place Counseling in Greensboro. Her experience also includes having served as Adjunct Faculty at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro (UNCG). Her professional interests include multicultural counselor training on race, faith, culture, and trauma; genocide awareness; women’s issues; and substance abuse assessment. Dr. Collins earned her bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University; her MSEd (CACREP-accredited) in community counseling from Duquesne University; and PhD in Christian counseling from South Florida Bible College and Seminary.
